About Accelerus

Accelerus 'software for schools' was developed by Semaphore Consulting in 1994 at the request of The Methodist Ladies’ College, Melbourne, one of the top schools in Australia. The Methodist Ladies’ College wanted a computerised reporting system which would: streamline the reporting process, enable more professional looking reports, be flexible to accommodate changing needs, and above all be easy for teachers to use. Since then Accelerus has grown into the preferred system in many of Australia’s schools.

Semaphore Consulting was established in 1988 and is a highly regarded software development house having implemented systems for many commercial, government and educational clients. Semaphore’s business philosophy is simple – provide a product which is good value for money, does what’s required and is easy to use, and then back it up with fantastic support. Semaphore believes in ‘good old fashioned ethics’ and giving something back to society.

Accelerus UK has been developed because of increasing demand from schools in Britain. The first school to try Accelerus in the UK was Rugby in early 2003 and since then Accelerus has spread by word of mouth to some of the top schools in the country. In order to further support UK schools Semaphore has developed a website and literature specifically for Britain. Accelerus was also exhibited in the UK at BETT ’05 the world's leading educational ICT event.

Note. Until April ’04 Accelerus was known as MarkBook. Accelerus is the same great product just a different name.
